I'm Loving it!

The last few weeks I have been at home due to ill health. As I have started to feel better, I have been doing lots of cooking, baking cakes and started knitting again.
What is such a surpirse is I am absolutley loving being at home.
I have always been a career girl and worked full time, despite having four kids. I always thought that was me but I have suddenly realised at the grand old age of forty two that its not! Actually being here and having time to talk to the kids and my hubby when they come in from work and school is fantastic. What I love the most is putting a lovely meal out for them that I have made from scratch and that hasn't cost a fortune. My youngest said yesterday 'I hope you never go back to work'. I am honestly a different person:D I can't believe how much more relaxed I feel. My stress levels have come right down:)
I honestly think trying to juggle a high flying job with a large family really contributed to my illness and I am seriously thinking of not going back. Financially it will be a real struggle but I have a few ideas for working part time from home and I am sure I will be able to budget so much better now. Our relationship is much improved now I am not biting his head off every two minutes because I am so stressed out:o Its been a real shock that actually I am an old fashioned girl at heart.
I certainly don't criticise anyone who works outside the home and I know a lot of people don't have any choice but I just know that in my heart this is the right thing for me. Who'd have thought it!

This is really exciting! I love when people make startling discoveries about themselves! Sounds as though by utilising moneysaving and OS ways, you could lessen the blow of giving up work. I say go for it! I would give up work in a heartbeat if I possibly could - it just really doesn't seem to me what my life should be about! My boyfriend and I have a goal of both only working part time...it's a long term one though. Good on you! Glad to hear how happy you're feeling!

i have returned home full time again, after working part time(if that makes sense) its where I feel happiest, and it is definitely less stressful
There are 3 working adults,1 home schooled teenager and one beautiful granddaughter to look after....and its great...i feel so lucky....(i know, its probably the chemicals gone to my head....does bi-carb and vinegar do it to anyone else?..ha ha)
  • Julie67, There is nothing to beat that feeling. Personally, I would rather be home-making and spending time with the family than anything else. When I have to go away for a few days, I get so homesick and think 'I wish I was pottering around my little house and garden, baking, knitting and seeing the kidlets' (All growed up now, but still babies to me.)

I went back to work last week after 11 weeks off caring for my daughter who had an operation.

I too, discovered how much I love being at home.

Unfortunately, I had to go back to work :(

I really wish I didn't have to work. I wish I could stay at home :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • Since having to give up work due to disablement I have never been so relaxed - yes sometimes I worry when bills come in especially the huge utility bills but, they make enough profit so they can wait. I have become more laid back on bills - I used to pay them the same day but not now.

I can cook something out of nothing, I knit and sew
I have always been home when the kids get in from school and my kids have never roamed the streets getting into trouble.

Never feel guilty about not being able to afford the newest game console / etc
We have a family computer and a rota that works so why waste money on one for each person (saves on electric as well)
At Christmas my kids are happy with lots of little bits and bobs and one main present. They have never moaned about not having everything all at once and are probably more money concious than a lot their age. We all love going foraging in the Autumn and making jams etc with our freebies
So I say go for it! The memories when they are young can never be put on hold enjoy special moments with them now:D
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
