Night in a hotel but where???

Im not sure if this is the right place to post, Please feel free to move if its in the wrong place.

Its my boyfriends birthday next week, and as we both this Friday off work I was going to take him away for a night in a hotel. But as its before pay day, i'm looking for somewhere under 50pound

I was thinking somewhere on the coast as we both love the seaside, and no where north of Birmingham, I just have no idea where, have been looking on last minute, but not sure, whether to go for a top secret hotel or not. Also not sure if any other cheap hotel sites out there.

If anyone has any recommendations or ideas of hotels/places to go I would be grateful
Hoping the comping fairy is nice this month and the postman comes.

I assume the £50 doesn't include travel costs and is it per person or are you talking the room?

Also, a central location would be good, you say not north of Birmingham, but I might suggest the welsh west coast (lovely places/beaches and this time of year nice and quiet and cheap) as Aberystwyth (standard double in Llwynygog Guest House, Aberystwyth is £56 for 2 adults and 2 breakfasts and is right on the beach), or Norfolk has lots of nice beaches and again cheap out of season ( Central Hotel £35 for a double and breakfast, river side but beaches close ish, Great Yarmouth - right on the coast £38 for a double), Cornwall would be a classic suggestion.

I don't know how far away these places are from you though.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
