A&L Bank Charges

Hi all,

On Monday AM, I checked my account and realised I didnt have enough left for my O2 direct debit to come out of my account. This usually seems to come out on the evening of the day its due.

I therefore contacted my Mum and asked her to do an instant transfer of £30 into my account as I knew I needed to cover it and wanted to avoid their charge of £25.

I have just checked my account and seen it shows £30 credit from Mum, then A&L charge of £25 then O2 DD of £30.25

I cant believe they have charged me, when I did everything possible to avoid this situation and tried to cover myself. I have written to them, but does anyone think I stand I chance in hell of reclaiming? I am cross about this

  • If this was the first occasion then I cannot see why they would not look favourably upon your request.

Take a look at this thread.

I'm not sure if your situation is the same, but it sounds like it. If it is, sounds like you have a chance ... but you may need to be prepared to file a summons before A&L take you seriously.

  • As Premier says, I've just won my fees back from A & L in what seems like identicle circumstances. If you mum paid in cash, I'm afraid that you're snookered, but if she made a bank transfer from another A & L account or from any bank listed as being part fo their "faster pay" system, you should get your charges back as they are in breach of thier terms.

    Good luck.

Well, the following day after my letter would have been received, I logged into my account and saw that they have refunded my £25 charge in full.. YAY!

I havent been to my parents since then, but assume there will be some form of letter from A&L with an explanation waiting for me.
