another planning application question

Why can the person who applied appeal against a decision yet the people objecting to it cant appeal?

Madness?

if you have objected to a planing decision.. your objects are still noted on the appeal thus no need to repeat.

Because once planning permission has been granted, work starts. What do you want them to do, give permission for them to build something, and then withdraw it once they have finished building it - madness.

I don't think that was the question! The question related to - if something is granted planning permission, why can't those people who have objected appeal against the permission to try and get it refused.

There is no third party right of appeal - although there is in Northern Ireland!

To allow a third party right of appeal would slow down the system so much. Planning decisions are taken either by elected Members who form a Planning Committee, or professional officers acting under delegated authority from that Committee. Imagine if nearly every decision was appealed by someone, that would just be a waste of tax payers money.
  • they apply, you object, they tweak and re-apply based on your comments

if council think new tweaks satisfy most of your concerns the happy days, building time.

That's why you have to object properly, and raise all your points at one
  • Normally, objections are along the lines of "I don't like it" or "it will affect the value of my house"

So if every objector was allowed to appeal, then nothing would ever get built as the process would drag on and on
