Nationwide PPI claim

Hello I wonder if somebody could offer me some advice.
I took out a loan with Nationwide in January 2005 with PPI (not really knowing what PPI was)
I sent off the letter from the guide and have received a reply basically telling me to get lost and that I hadn't been mis-sold the PPI. I really believed at the time that it was compulsory and wasn't told that I didn't have to purchase the policy.
Do I carry on with the claim and send the second letter or give up and put it down to experience.
I am probably the worlds worst complainer so some gentle advice would be greatfully received.

Hi and welcome.;)
If that was not the final response then write back and ask them to reconsider, tell them despite their findings you still strongly believe the policy was mis sold to you and the policy was obviously not explained to you when you were sold the loan, and did not even know what it was.
Then they should issue you with the final decision with details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) if eligible to take your complaint to these.
If that was the final letter, then go to the FOS now, by either downloading and printing a complaints form from the FOS site or ring them to arrange to send you one in the post, also enclose copies of correspondence you received from the bank and anything you have to support your case.
