MEAF fees = mortgage exit fees..........

How could you claim back exit fees from current provider?
You can ask the 2004 lender if they charged you on discharge.... what they said they would when you first took the mortgage out..

Please be aware this is not claim back all fees such as early repayment charges, arrangement fees etc ..it is mortgage exit fees (clue is within the 3 words) ........:)

Vigilant, it seems like you've been asleep at the wheel here. The news story DOES regard arrears fees, and quite clearly details that the FSA are encouraging consumers to make complaints about ALL unfair fees. Nowhere in the story does it even refer to MEAF.

Your sarcasm is totally unwarranted, and amounts to bullying. I'm sure if people were looking to be bullied and belittled in the way you seem to enjoy doing, they would make a call to their banks or mortgage providers. The forum is supposed to be a friendly place, and I'm betting that you wouldn't enjoy being on the receiving end of what you're dishing out.

If you can't offer advice in a pleasant manner, don't bother - especially when the info you're giving is incorrect in the first place.

  • Hello All, I have had a response from Intelligent Finance regarding unfair mortgage fees. They have told me that the fees are completely fair and just therefore no refund will be given. What next?

Was it arrears fees, did they not agree with the fee tariff which would have been issued originally with your mortgage offer?

Coming from FS I have the same kind of opinion as Vig, you sign to accept the fees. I believed that a fee for going in to arrears was a punishment as you should pay.

I have now also been on the other end. All lenders charge these fees and you cannot chose a lender who does not. The fees are not huge but if your in arrears for a long time they add up.

When you cant pay your mortgage and you can see your balance going the wrong way, then you see a £50 or £30 charge being stuck on it seems very unfair. Especially when they take the property and get all the money back, plus ERC and plus any costs.

I am now not so sure the fees are fair. The banks know you dont worry about the fees when you sign up, so they dont give a monkeys.

Also, I feel each case needs to be looked on in its own merit. Some people cant pay, some people wont.

On that, does anybody if you can try and claim after your repo'd?
