Replacement for Hoodless Brenan - Motley Fool?

I have read the article on share dealing and note that Hoodless Brenan no longer does online dealing.

Any thoughts on the best replacement?

I am thinking about Motley Fool which appears to charge a flat fee of just £10 a transaction regardless of the size, although I have still to read the small print. Any views?

I would also like to get rid of my certificated shares and transfer them, hopefully for free, into an electronic nominee account. Any views on this? (I am aware that share holder perks may be lost which does not bother me for the shares I have)

I also believe there is now no benefit is holding shares in an ISA, other than saving capital gains tax on large gains, as the dividends are no longer reclaimed. Are there now any advantages in a ISA account?

Apologies for all the questions as I am just getting back into share dealing after about a ten year break and I am trying to short circuit the massive amount of research I am doing!

There are other online sharedealing companies but avoid Selftrade, they changed the face of their website, have increased their charges, decreased their service & their Customer Service has gone downhill since they were sold to a German firm.
I was with them for 6 years (as a customer) & despite various complaints they never dealt with matters at all. They also became very tardy in paying dividends due.

    Hi,

Thanks for that. I read on another site that the Selftrade server is continually going down as well.
