If the op has an ordinary boarded floor then perhaps he stands a chance of doing something along the lines suggested. In my case the floor is large sheets of chipboard and no chance of lifting it without severe damage. Not worth the effort in my case. If the op's pipework is a retrofit then the line of the pipes is easily found. They would also be easy to lift, even if nailed back. He might find that they have been screwed down and then the job's easy.
