You can retract a bid yourself but the retraction goes on your record. This is the link you need on eBay: http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?RetractBidShow

definitely retract the bid yourself, if you leave it up to your seller and they don't bother then you'll end up in all sorts of problems if you end up winning the auction.
Yes it does show in your records (on your feedback page) but only for six months, and 1 bid retraction isn't going to even be noticed.
