I tried adding salt, (we got some for our front steps in the snow) and I tried using a whole tablet, ( I started using only half after reading it as a money saving tip on here and it didn't make a difference for a long time) but nothing made much difference. DH just bought some finish tabs that are on special in sainsburys at the mo, so we'll see how they go too. Thanks
Mine was playing up and on the advice here I put dishwasher salt in. It took nearly a week of washes after putting the salt in for some reason, but it is much better now. Ironically, in the meantime I'd ordered a new one. I now have two dishwashers!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

yes, we bought dishwasher salt to use in the snow as some one told DH its cheaper than table salt, never actually checked it, but he bought a big bag of it.
I've tried cleaning it with a proper dish washer cleaner, as well as trying the lemon and vinegar OS suggestion, and cleaning out the filter really well.
I'll keep an eye on it.0 -
I never rinse things before putting them in the dishwasher, always have salt and rinse aid, I use Finish powerballs and often put fatty plates and dishes in. Everything comes out fine.
I used to clean the muck out of the dishwasher every few months but not any more. These days I always squirt about half a thimble full of Fairy Liquid into the dishwasher each time I run it. This seems to stop the greasy muck accumulating.
I know you shouldn't put washing up liquid into a dishwasher, and if you put too much in you get tons of bubbles which I have been told can cause the machine to blow up in extreme cases.
But a little bit of detergent, particularly when the load has lots of greasy dishes, works for my machine and keeps it clean.0
