Moving abroad with UK cards

Does anybody know what the score is re keeping or having to close UK credit card accounts if you move abroad? The only obvious thing in the t's & c's is that you have to be a UK resident to apply for them (and I was - or should that be am
).
My mail redirection won't last for ever, and I'm trying to check out what will happen if I actually give card co's an overseas address to use.
TIA

Hiya - I've been in the States for the last 15 months and have had my mail directed also. I've been keeping everything as is for now so that if I need to apply for a new card to get 0% I can, but like you the mail redirection won't last forever. As long as you have a current account that is paying the direct debits and you are able to access this all online it shouldn't be a problem. Once the redirection stops you can then inform everyone of your new residence. They can't do anything about it - they're not going to wipe the debt and they still you need to pay it off, however that may be - they should all have a department for account holders living abroad so you can speak to them. But be warned - I'm sure once they know you live abroad you won't get so many nice promotional offers to juggle those cards, also I log on to my current account using my debit card number and when the debit card expired I could no longer log on, they will send me a new on but only if I change my address to permanently be abroad which I don't want to do yet.
Hope this was of some use to you...0 -
They won't wipe the debt...mmm, good point

Didn't realise they actually have dept's to deal with awkward people like us though, thanks, that helps. Guess we can't be the only ones trying to use them (in the MSE sense) from abroad.0
