I’ll be arriving in Newport on the train from Bristol and usually get a taxi from outside the train station to my final destination. I’ve looked at getting a bus instead and this seems possible although I’ll have a couple of hours wait so I need help with two things:
1) Directions from the train station to the bus station. I’ve looked on Google Maps and it seems as if I come out the train station with the taxi rank along to my right I’m on the right side of the line and should only have a 5 or 10 minute walk. More specific directions would be appreciated.
2) To help pass the time, is there a decent pub handy?

Only made journey once - it did take just under 10 mins - so cannot improve on instructions, also don't know pub but can suggest Dylans cafe near the bus station:175 Upper Dock Street, NP20 1DY
They do very generous pots of tea and nice, reasonably priced food as well. Friendly chatty staff.

Its Newport, friendly?? ;-) Almost directly opp the train station is a Wetherspoons - cheap and cheerful. If you want more ambience with limited possibility of being stabbed The Murrenger is nice with novel beers. Out of train station, over the main road and around the australian bar (Wallabies? Changed hands recently) follow round to the right and The Murrenger is down their on your right.

Bus station from The Murrenger: Out of the pub turn right, follow road, past DorothyPerkins and Burtons on left keep going until you see Barclays, turn left in front of it. Down slope, turn right in front of Potters Pub. Follow street along, bears left into bus station.. Good luck, its a hole!!
