Brighthouse Tv Problem

I am hoping someone will be able to shed light on my rights regarding an HP purchase i have with Brighthouse.
I have been paying up a 42in Tv from Brighthouse for nearly 3 years now and with only 4 weeks left to pay, Lo and Behold the screen has black marks appearing on it. Heres where the problem begins.... I have been paying for the optional service cover incase such a problem would transpire and Brighthouse have taken the Tv for repair and left me a "Loner" which is in even worse state than mine. I have been told that if my Tv is not repairable i will have it replaced by a tv "similar" to mine but it will also be 3 years old?????

Is this correct? i have paid nearly £1000 pounds over three years for the service cover and all they do is hand me a Tv they couldn't sell or worse still a second hand refurbished TV?? Does anyone know where i stand??

The terms and conditions say that it will be replaced by " a model similar to or slightly better than"...... but 3 years old????????

Please dont not buy from this company

It was in media a few months ago they charge high price for goods, rip off interest rates and then push guarantees that you do not need

Heavens above. If you've paid £1,000 just for cover, I dread to think what you've been paying for the TV itself, and how much it's all cost you over three years.

What do the terms and conditions say in relation to the repair/replacement warranty you've paid for? Is what you've posted the exact wording? You need to read those carefully.

Have you tried googling it, to see if other people have experienced the same problem?
  • Thank you for replying, Yes that is basically word for word what the terms and conditions say. i am on my way to the store now but i don't hold out much hope of getting any joy from their sales staff, i just dont know much about consumer rights at all but the whole 3 year old replacement seems totally wrong to me. Isnt it always a like for like replacement and a new one at that??

Indeed. I looked in the window of one and they heavily pushed credit. I avoided it.

If it's a like for like replacement then surely that's precisely what they're offering? Your 3 year old tv is to be replaced by a 3 year old tv. As others have said you can expect precisely what the agreement offers, no more, no less. Brighthouse are not in the business of being generous or fair.

Unfortunately Brighthouse pray on guillable people who want things rather than need them, & who can't get a loan elsewhere due to bad credit rating.

Make sure if you get a replacement that it of the same quality i.e. if your current tv is a Sony one, don't accept an unknown brand in exchange.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

And don't let them sell you anything else while you're there, whatever discount they offer.

Bit late for such advice now, isn't it?
