ESA couple

ok whilst I understand alot(well some)things about esa how would it affect a couple who are currently in the following situation?

he: I/B dla(mrc lrm)
she: dla(mrc hrm)
jointly: i/s,smi,ctb,and couple rate of sdp, disability premium

would anything change e.g. i/s claim as a couple, sdp, and disability premium?

Am I right in assuming that the total income will be protected by transitional relief?
How will esa affect (she)being an addition to his claim,as she doesnt claim I/B in her own right.?

cheers
John

If you look at the pdf that was posted about the changes that are planned due to ESA which was posted last week you may get some answers.

There are examples of how different people will be affected in there and it may have your situation as one of them.
  • had a good look thru the pdf examples and they dont inc the above, although they did shed some light on the subject, anyone got any definitive answers, would appreciate them, but thanks again healy

Well, no-one will be worse off if they qualify for ESA after the WCA, but the ADI will cease to exist according to the draft regulations.

we should have transitionary protection but all that changed last April when the goverment started to reduce the age allowance on IVB/IB and in real terms I am £3 per week worse off this year and I will continue to lose more money each year until IVB/IB reduces to the ESA level.

When the reduction is complete I will be @£1000 a year worse off.

People on IS are not affected by the reduction of IVB/IB, only people who dont claim means tested benefits.

    Adult Dependant Increase

(the words may not be absolutely correct but they should be sufficient to demonstrate what it is :) )
