sanded my boards in the summer & many people recomended filling the gaps with sawdust/glue,dont get me wrong am gratefull for the advice but what with the boards shrinking ect the sawdust/glue joints have mainly come away.so now have filled the gaps with flexible cork which hopefully will exspand/contract with the boards.blends in quite nicely aswell & now can watch tv with a gale blowing around my ankles

I did ours with newspaper....don't know if this is a recognised method or not, but it seems to have worked. I scrunched the newspaper up small & really packed the gaps & pushed it down well, then topped it with woodfiller stuff, sanded it when it was dry then varnished the floor to get it all a similar colour. Several years later, all seems still to be in place.2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
While I can just about understand people sanding boards. I cannot for the life of me understand why makeover programs think that great gaps between the boards is either attractive or desirable. When I was a kid, you were very poor, if you could not afford to cover the bare boards with a bit of lino or a rug.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
