Does anyone know if the original sims works on Windows 7

When you say "the original sims" do you mean The Sims 1 or 2? We have the Sims 2 running on Windows 7 with no problem.

I should think that if The Sims (1) works/worked on Windows XP, then it should be able to work on Win7. (Bare with me!)

If it doesn't work right away on Win7 but did on WinXP (which I am fairly sure it does, as I had mine running on XP for a while), then you should just be able to:
Right-click program > Properties > Compatibility (tab) > Check the box and select XP from drop down list

Hope I'm not completely off the mark and this works. If you're unsure you could try finding someone who has Win7 and test it out if they'll allow it
