1 itunes account on 2 different computers?

Options
We currently have a desktop with an itunes account which we use for both mine and my wife's ipod. We have itunes set to manually sync to manage the music going onto each ipod. Wife now also wants a laptop - is it possible to have the same itunes account on both the desktop and the laptop? How would this work in reality with downloaded music and also cd's which we burn to the hard-drive - basically have to keep updating both PC's??

yes you just login the same username and password for each computer. If you have a wifi network you can play songs from 1 computer on the other with itunes home network linkage.

you can authorise your account on 5 devices, if you run out and lose track of them all you can reset the counter via the apple website but you can only do this once per 12 months at present.

    Be careful with syncing.....
  • You can also use homeshare to copy stuff between the 2 if you want to keep the same library on both. It doesn't do it automatically (except for stuff purchased from iTunes) but you can choose to see "items i don't have" and import them.

With the iTunes Home Sharing feature, you can transfer your music between the two computers.

  • You might be interested to know that you can have individual itunes accounts on one pc. If you each have your own user account in windows you can use itunes independently of each other and can sync you ipods automatically if you want.
Handy if you have totally different tastes in music.

Is this possible? If my wife was to start again with itunes and copy all her cd's onto her laptop, would she still be able to log into our actual itunes account and download music (we have £20+ credit)? Would it then just go onto which ever machine it was originally downloaded? Or would it be available on both pc's? Basically seperate libraries but common itunes account?
