New pc with router

Hi can anyone tell me what I need to do to get my new downstairs pc to connect to the internet using the router. I am using the router on a different pc now so its obviously working. I just need the downstairs PC to use the connection. It is plugged in to it but what settings do I need to do ? I know the ISP username and password.

  • If you have the PC plugged into an already set-up router then you don't need to do anything else. Just plug it in and it should work straight away.

check your ethernet adaptor is 'enabled' in device manager (and possibly your BIOS too)
