I've searched every car hire compare site and the prices I get are just up the roof (no less than £450)

I need a vehicle for 8 people, that's including the driver. For 8 days.

Can you recommend anything?

    Yep a Van :D

Not being funny but 3 weeks ago we had the worst snow in the country for 30 years. Guess how many people smashed there lovely 7 seat MPVs into other things, cars or people.

Guess how many bodyshops are now quoting lead times in weeks or months and not days.

Guess how many of those people had like for like insurance and as a result every 7 seat hire car is well and truly booked until the work is fixed.

Guess what this means for your local hire car company - its xmas and they just sold out of go go hamsters.

Van drivers are far more sensible and stayed in bed for the day and missed the snow and crashes. I think you need to look for a bigger vehicle to save on money.
