Hi
We have just found out that my husband is to have surgery in the forthcoming months for hydrocephelis and requires brain surgery, and will be needing 4-6 months off work to recover also his driving licience is to be surrended to the DVLA for a minimum of 6 months after surgery.
Whilst off work he will only recieve SSP, which for us is a rather large drop off about £200.00 per week in income.
I have a good salary of around £30k per year, but will struggle to manage on this and SSP with mortgage, childcare etc etc
So i contacted child tax credits and due to my salary would nt be entitled to anything - is there anything else we may be entitled to to help us get through the forthcoming difficult 6 months???

He may be entitled to claim contributory based ESA (even though he is still employed) once the SSP runs out but as far as I know there is nothing else due to the salary you are bringing in.
I've tried to check how long you can get SSP but https://www.direct.gov.uk isn't playing!
Best of luck for you and your family.
