Charging for letters

Hi

Have sent my first letter requesting a copy of my loan agreement. The Halifax has replied by saying that i have to pay £10.00 for it. Is this about right?

When you request for your paperwork, yes there is a cost of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this request, its actually called a Subject Access Request (SAR), they have 40 days to comply, there is an template letter here for this here:

Personally I would write one of these out to make sure they comply and of course enclose the payment, the SAR should include all they hold on your account(s), including statements, and anything in relation to PPI etc.

And if you can as well post by recorded post for your proof of posting.

If you only wanted the CCA (loan agreement) that is infact only a £1 postal order or cheque payment and they have 12 days to send this to you.
