Hi,
I've just bought a Sky HD box from ebay.
I was hoping to just connect it to my existing set up and it would work, but its showing a "no signal recieved" message.
My question is, do I need to change my LNB and/or cable for it to work?
The existing sky set up is a single dish with a multiroom LNB and a single cable feeding the sky digital box.
Regards

I've not got Sky personally, but while we're waiting for someone more qualified to respond, I know SkyHD boxes need dual feeds. You might be able to get away with one, but it's probably not recommended. They need two feeds so you can watch one channel while recording another.
As far as I know, you don't need a different LNB or cable to previous Sky boxes. You just need the two feeds.
Have you tried plugging your single feed into the other input? You might be stuffed though without the 2nd feed. In which case you'll want a quad LNB and the second feed bringing through (or lose the multi room and use the one off that).0 -
You dont need to have dual cable to use a skyhd+ box it will still record and pause + rewind etc but only the current channel thats being watched.0

This thread seems to imply there's a "single feed mode" somewhere in the menus you may need to turn on:

I'd still try the other input as well. It may have a preference for one over the other.0 -

What's the Signal Quality & Strength?
Did your old box work OK? If so,try that again.
If it still works, you may have bought a duff box with a failing PSU.
Try this,
Turn off the mains power to the HD Box,press & hold the back up button on the box while at the same time, turn the power back on.
After a few seconds some lights on the box'll come on & you'll get a message on screen.0 -
Thanks guys.
Ive just come back from a friends and the box definately works on their set up (dual feed)
My old sky feed works fine. In the menu it shows no signal at all and swapping the LNB input doesnt change that?

Does the claimed "single feed mode" option actually exist on your box? That other thread said go to settings, then press 4, 0 then 1 and it's in there somewhere.
Ultimately though I'd probably get the 2nd feed wired through. If you've not got any feeds spare on your LNB, I doubt a new LNB is that expensive.0 -
Thanks Bonzer.
I have forced a software update and am now able to access the hidden engineer menu. I have selected single cable mode and its now rebooting....fingers crossed!!
Now working. Thanks everyone for the pointers.
For the record if you have the latest sky EPG its in the hidden "installer" menu on the Sky+ HD box, that can be accessed by pressing the 'Services' button, then 0 0 1 followed by 'Select' then select "single cable mode"

Just remember, as already mentioned, you'll only be able to record the channel you're watching.
Or record one channel and watch a previous recording.Dave. :wave:0
