Primary school Age

My daughter was born in January 2008, could some one please confirm what year she will start school.

I seem to think its Sept 2012.

Been to see a few primary schools and sending forms back to register an interest.

Many thanks

Yes it will be September 2012. She will be starting pre-school nursery after Easter 2011. It's good to get an idea about which school you would like her to do to but please be aware that they do not work on a 'first come, first served' basis. Have a look at your county website for the admissions criteria.

Don't take it for granted that the admissions policy will be the same county-wide. DD/DS's school takes children full time from the September after they are 3 and only has the one intake. There's one or two schools in town that do that. Others don't have a nursery unit at all. And obviously legally they don't have to attend until the term after their fifth birthday.

Personally I would check with each individual school as to what their admissions policy is and how heavily subscribed they are (which may have an effect on their intake).

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
  • in our school, she'd start after easter 2012 - the term after they are 4. altho our admission policy is changing to the term they turn 4 i.e she could go jan 2012.
check with your authority and/or choice og school to be sure. it's worth asking for their admissions policy too - it'll give you a chance to se how places are allocated (i.e catchment children first, those that are practicing anglicans/christians etc if faith schools, those with brothers/sisters already in the school )

TRYING hard to be a good money saver
  • Thanks everyone for your help.

We have viewed a couple of schools and was just completing the notice of interest form to be kept on file by our local school who will send the forms out to us when the time comes to apply properly. Just needed to make sure i put the correct start year on.

I have her name down for a pre-school place as well as our local primary school doesn't have a nursery.

Will be here in a flash, scary where time goes!!
