Largely a myth, ok until you need to replace the turbo for arguments sake when a merc one is about £600 and a vauxhall one about £300. Premium cars do tend to have higher priced parts especially if you want to stick with OEM parts. Of course you can pattern parts that generally are cheaper than OEM parts.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies.
As for the recomendations given:
V70- i think is a little too big and looks a bit dated?
Skoda Octavia- I can't get my head around the fact that it is a Skoda!? I like the look of the car but can't see myself driving one, Sorry Skoda.
I am liking V40 and Alfa 156 station wagon mainly because they do not seem too big in estate terms.
But my sensible head is saying Mondeo!! But i am still reading your comments and taking them all in re repair prices etc.

I'd say go V40. Its not a current model and you will get a lot of car for not a lot of money. The 1800 petrol is a little underpowered according to someone who has one but then it depends what sort of driving you do. The bigger diesel might be a better option.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I posted this earlier on another thread but this is the thread I meant to post it on.

Probably worth paying around £2k and replacing the mirror. You could leave the rest alone virtually.0
