Problem is that they CAN hide
All that everyone else can do is continue to give the best advice they can

The thing is SOME debt collectors are genuine and honest, and can actually give a valuable insight into the industry, same as advisors like myself can come in and contribute.
Of course some aren't so genuine and honest. The best thing you can do is ignore them and ensure that the poster is given the best advice as possible and referred to the right places where neccessary.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

there are people from all walks of life and types of job on this site, maybe this person is on this website for the same reason as the rest of us and as Immoral-Angeluk said, sometimes any advice given by a debt collector could be good from an insiders point of view?

The way I see it is that there is a need for debt collectors within the industry, there are people who delibrately take on debts with no intention of paying them back as well as those people who need a little reminder that their debts are overdue. There is no crime in being a debt collector.
So if we get a debt collector posting on here and if they are giving helpful advice to people (insider tricks perhaps such as make your F&F just before the month end) then they are of a benefit to the board.
However if they are posting along the lines of 'you must pay exactly what has been requested, straight away, get into more debt if necessary but pay up this creditor otherwise you will be taken to court' - well then hopefully they would be easily spotted and the OP would be corrected by other posters.
I haven't particularly come across hullight's posts, however often if I'm suspicious that someone is posting with ulterior motives I'll note that they are commentating on every thread that has a particular company name mentioned be that a DCA or DMP company or whatever. In that case if they appear to be biased then I'd report them.
-Obviously I'm giving hullight and any others the benefit of the doubt that they don't work for Moorcroft

It would be naive to think that DCAs don't read this forum to get 'insider' knowledge. But that's the nature of the beast and so long as people are sensible and obey normal internet rules such as giving out personal details etc I can't see the harm.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
