We paid £340 for a Sony 32 inch TV about 12 months ago and it has been excellent.

But, my mum in law paid much less than this for some unknown make from Asda and to be honest the picture is just as good.

Panasonic, Sony and Samsung are the main 3

As for daveys comment, all tvs are never set up correctly out of the box, so id hazard a guess its still not set up correctly

LG TVs are better than the off-brands, but they're not as good as those three.

There is no " best TV ", or for that matter, best brand.

Even the big brands have a fair share of dud set's.

The best way to find a TV within budget is to visit a quality retailer like John Lewis and look/hear with your own ears and eye's..

At least you will get a 5 year warranty at John Lewis.:)

Richer Sounds will also sell a Five Year guarantee for a sensible 10% of purchase price - refundable after 5 years if you don't use it (but remember to claim it back within 1 month).

And they will price match John Lewis on a like for like model.

Indeed, but they do not deliver and for me they are about a 100 mile round trip away.:)
