Hi there
Just wondered if anyone had any clues as to what would happen when i start Maternity Leave - re CTC and WTC
I work 2 days a week and i have 3 other children, 2 are in nursery 8am-6pm on the days i work and one is in full time school and goes to afterschool club at the same nurserym on the 2 days. I get help with my childcare costs.
My question is when i go on Maternity Leave (I am expecting my 4th in July) will the help towards my childcare payments stop as obviously I am at home so the children could be home with me?
I'm hoping they wont as i dont want to take the kids out of nursery and then have to put then back in when i return to work, which im planning to do within 2 months of starting my Maternity Leave.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks Sammie x

No the childcare element wont stop just because you are on maternity leave! If you decided not to return to work then once maternity leave has stopped you wouldnt get the help.0

Hi Sammie
If you just take the SMP leave time (9 months?) rather than the extra unpaid time then it should all be fine.
You are still entitled to your help with CC costs while on SMP, exactly as if you were still at work.
Just had a thought....that's how it worked 3 years ago anyway, so unless there's been a radical change.....give them a quick call to check. Not just a sucker for sweeties..:o0 -
Hi
Thanks so much for your responses, glad to hear that the payments will stay the same - will give them a quick call later to make sure.
Was having nightmares that i would have to take the kids out of nursery and now will be happy to have a couple of days in the week to catch up on sleep etc when the new baby is here! lol
Thanks again
