Just a thought - you say she is very independent. In that case why not put a series of staggered 'use by' dates on the vouchers (maybe with a smiley so her hormones don't take it the wrong way!). That way you can impress on her that you REALLY DO want her to use the vouchers, not just stick them in a drawer!!!

Can I be a voice of dissent for the 'time off/babysitting vouchers' -
    I would
    A) never have cashed them in because even though it's a nice offer unless I arranged something as soon as I was given them I'd feel bad at bringing them up
    B) taken it as saying 'you can't do this on your own, you poor single parent, you aren't coping' (yes I know that's not how it's meant but my mind goes off on wierd tangents like that)
    C) I don't want to be apart from my new baby, have to do that soon enough when I go back to work, and the continual offers to babysit got my back up even though I knew it was irrational, plus you get the fun while I do the shopping?
    D) offers for facials etc -do I look terrible after having a baby and this is your way of telling me not to let go of myself?

I like the meals one though, or an offer (made 'spontaneously') to do the ironing or hoovering would be more appreciated. Or just spending time with her, maybe going round with a film and takeaway (make it clear you aren't fussed if baby cries and you can't hear the film)

I got a pamper kit from work when I left to go on Mat Leave.

It was from boots and had a gorgeous salt scrub, face mask, moisturiser etc it was lovely to receive and use ! And I was quite touched that people had thought about me.

It's a lovely idea, I'm sure your friend will appreciate it :)
