How to choose a holiday?

Hi All,

My and the girlfriend have booked off the same week for our holiday (Middle of June) and do not know whether to wait until a last minute deal pops up a week before we have our holiday... or whether to book well in advance?

I'm really struggling!

Any ideas/tips?

Thanks!

You don't get any massively better deals by waiting last minute in particular. I always book a fiar bit in advance and can save a bg chunk of money - it's all about shopping around.

Shop around now and see if there is anything you fancy. Don't forget quidco cashback and also check for any discount codes.

What companies were you look at booking through.

  • Thanks for the advice.

Well, my girlfriend does not have a passport yet (she did have a child one 6 years ago though) so we need to get that sorted for her first.

We can't put down a deposit until the end of February (that is when her first pay check will be).

We have looked at First Choice, Thomson and Thomas Cook but just want an option where we can look at all holidays between a certain price during a certain date... but it seems too tricky to be able to do that!

With Portland you can do that. Pick "any destination" and then do the search - it might be a start to give you some ideas.

(Portland are the direct selling arm of Thomsons - so they are identical holidays but usually cheaper).

Outside of School holidays , you don't seem to have any firm ideas/wishes

Be flexible , wait until the last moment and grab a bargain.

I need certain dates , fussy from which airport I fly , like 'good' flight times
I do masses of research about a few hotels ..... therefore I book months ahead.
Never had a 'bargain'.... but never a duff holiday:cool:
