The help with mortgage interest saga!

Last November, after being on contribution based JSA for 3 months, I was sent forms to fill in for help with the mortgage. I thought this was just paid to those on income based JSA but my local job centre said there had been a change in the rules and I was now eligible for help.
In January, having heard nothing, I phoned the office which had issued the form and they said there must gave been a mistake as I was not eligible and that there had been no change in the rules.
The following day I spoke to a different person at that office and they said I wasn't eligible till March when I would go onto income based JSA and the reason I had been sent the forms would be that they would just be gathering information in readiness.
3 days later I received notification of my mortgage interest award, saying it would be backdated to December!
Of course, now I am going to confuse them even more because I am back to work next week.
But what a mess eh?

You were mis-advised, yes. Didn't we tell you that before ?
Glad it's sorted now. And good luck with the new job.
