    Morning all :D

I'm stuck in a heated discussion with DH about what subjects DD should choose as her GCSE options. As she really hasnt a clue what she wants to do, I said she should choose things that would give her a good general education. DH says she should just choose the subjects she likes.

Glad it's not just us then. I want DD1 to do business studies as one of her options but she wants to do history....she's never been fantastic at it but quite likes the sound of the course for next year....I just can't see how she'll ever use it to her advantage.

I would do a mix, but the core subjects she has to do English, Maths, Science will give her the general important subjects. I would probably then let her do something she enjoys as she is more likely to do well in it

She really hasnt a clue Sal. She's got a list of possibles, but keeps changing her ming. Media studies is on the list, but last week she wouldnt even look at their stand at open evening.

A lot of the subjects seem so career specific. There's catering for example, but it focuses on careers in the industry, rather than giving them a good grounding in food tech.

Cor blimey, it's so difficult :o

I recommended business studies too Pooky, it's likely to help in the future. DD fancies history too, but the only definites she has so far are ICT GCSE and Sociology. She still has to choose 2 more and 3 reserves :o

Hmm well I do like courgettes but that might be excessive :rotfl: Spud - that reminds me, have butternut squash seeds too! It's almost planting time for some things, aubergines need started off early indoors apparently. Can't wait to get going with the gardening this year, I even have a little calendar made out with what to plant when :D

So do I...and I have a seed box with file bits for the months in it which you put your seeds in so you know what to plant when :)

I can't wait to get back down to the allotment...there is a LOT to do. This year I am going for maximum coverage so there is less weeding to do :rotfl::T

Right, must start planning then. Our butternut squash were fab last year, want to grow more this year. Never tried aubergines, but they will be grown in the conservatory with me squash :T

The box sounds like a good idea.. I might do something with a biscuit tin and bits of cardboard :D

    Fab news Sally!! :T :T

I seem to have 9 courgette plants, 6 pumpkin plants, goodness knows how many chilli plants, basil, parsley and coriander growing in my kitchen already - nothing can go outside until April-ish, and the vegetable patch isn't ready yet in any case. I am over-run by plants!

So excited about growing veg though - I've seen a little coldframe that I'm going to get for the tomatoes, and the strawberries I planted last year seem to have survived so far. The herb garden is looking a bit sorry for itself but the rosemary is looking good and I reckon my mint would survive a nuclear holocaust...NOTHING kills it, and believe me I have tried!! :rotfl:

Mint is known for surviving! Best tip is to plant it in a pot when you plant it in the ground so it stops it invading and coming up all over the place! I think you might have rather a lot of courgettes there pmsl...
