currys policy's

i have a 19in logik television that wont tune in all the channels, currys said they repaired the tv but when i got it home it stil wasnt tuning in all the stations. currys wont give me my money back coz i havent got the base stand that i got with the television coz it broke wen i got the television 2 years ago, they say there policy is that you have to have the hole complete product, and the insurance company i got the extendend coverplan with wont refund the money coz the tech guy said there was no problem, when there clearly is since the stations arent tuning, is there anything i can do, or anywhere i cud get a replacement base new or second hand so i can even get a replacement from the shop??? or am i gonna be stuck wit a broken telly??

Sounds like you need to either get a better aerial or adjust the one you've got.

If you're insisting that it doesn't tune then get them to demonstrate it tuning in store. If they can't then they'll have to book it for another repair.

Even if they did exchange, how do you expect them to sell it without a stand?

Also, I'd be surprised that they didn't check it in-store first.

Since it's two years old I'd doubt that Currys could be shown to be under any obligation to do anything.

Well I think the OP needs to get a inderdepent Engineers report to prove that there fault if you really feel that there is a fault, but if they don't find anything you'll be out of pocket. If the engineers fault does indeed show a fault then you can go to small claims court to claim money back and a partial refund for how long you've had it refund.

Write recorded delivery to both curries and your insurance ppl that this is the route you planning on taking in 14days if you don't sort it out but be prepared that you may find yourself out of pocket if an engneers report shows there's no fault and just a weak single.

Tbh why bother. Its a 2 year old crap brand TV
I doubt the SOGA would offer much recourse even if it is proven faulty and I am high sceptical about this.

If you want to claim a replacement direct from the shop then you would need to go the SOGA route and more than likely Currys will ask for an engineer's report.

There is possibly a problem with the TV signal in your area. But presumably the signal has been fine up until this point which suggests that is unlikely this is the problem although it shouldn't be ruled out. The other option is that they have not repaired it, or it has been repaired for the fault to occur again. You can contact The Tech Guys who will collect it for a repair again. Or take it back to the store for them to send away.

I would go for the option of having it repaired for a second time at this stage. If they can't find a fault then claim under SOGA if you wish. Or get your aerial checked.

    Hi,

Could you just clarify what channels you are trying to tune in ... analogue / digital ? Remember that C5 has disappeared from analogue & if you are using freeview, well the reception will depend on where you live ...

By the way, you post is very difficult to read .... no sentences & lots of spelling mistakes ...

because they are not allowing the OP to claim on it???

But I do wander whether there is anything actually wrong with the TV ... which is why I asked the question about which channels can not be tuned in ....
