Irrelevant and rude posts

Like the other thread suggesting a spam button beside each post I would like irrelevant and rude posts removed. Some threads are totally spoiled by this. I regularly contribute to some health threads. The people on this thread support and help each other. I have just looked through some of the posts on the Techie board and find it upsetting how rude and unhelpful some people are. The holiday and ebay ones can be the same. Surely the point of a money saving forum is to help each other not belittle and be rude to people who are in need of support for whatever reason.

If you spot a spam, illegal, offensive, racist, libellous post or PM please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Who decides what is rude or irrelevant? They are completely subjective terms and generally judged in line with one's personal sensibilities towards any given subject.
I do think on a forum that it behoves people to grow a thicker skin and use the tools already available to them. Everyone has the ability to member to their personal 'ignore' list.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I read the thread you linked to and Totalsolutions should hang his head in shame.0 -

Well he's obviously being an idiot, but it's hardly the crime of the century. The best thing to do is shrug, acknowledge that the guy is probably a prat, whack him on 'ignore' and carry on as though he doesn't exist.
The Internet is simply a mirror to the outside world and just as you can't guarantee everyone you meet in the street is going to be polite and helpful, you can't guarantee it on the Net either. Now when you meet someone rude in the street do you rush around looking for someone to take action against them, or do you just think "knob" and move on because they're not worth the effort?“Don't do it! whilst I agree that you can just ignore posters like this and it is a reflection of life - I think if everyone stood up to these individuals then the problem would be reduced. A bit like seeing someone littering - nobody says anything when they see it happening and because the person doesn't get challenged they continue to litter.
If everyone on that thread had queried Totalsolutions attitude then he might think twice before he did it again - as it is, he will probably feel quite happy to post unhelpful rude posts again and again; whats more it could encourage others to do the same. In turn this will discourage new posters (and older ones too!) and that is not what MSE is about.

Please don't think I'm picking here but how is your post on said thread relevant to the OP?Always_Harassed wrote: »There only appears to be one child on this forum and it seems to be you. I fail to see how your comments help in any way, shape or form.0
