im still quite new to posting so sorry if this is the wrong place.
the situation is my mum is thinking of leaving her full time job to become my step dads full time carer as his health is getting worse and he feels himself that he should now have a carer agreed also by his gp.
my mum lives in a council house and my brother still lives at home with them.
what we need to know is by giving up work to be his carer what benefits would she be entilted to and would she have to wait to claim as she would be giving up her job volunterily.
would my 27 yr old brother living at home but working full time mean she would not be able to claim anything
many thanks for your help

As your step father is over 65, Attendance Allowance is the appropriate benefit if he has care needs. If he doesn't receive AA, then your mother cannot claim Carers Allowance.0
