and Tomato you are right when my very confused Gran was in hospital with pneumonia (she also had dementia) they told me she was incontinent - erm NO - but she couldn't get out of bed to GO to the toilet she couldn't cope with the call bell and she was in a side room and they ignored her shouting - so eventually she 'let go'...and don't get me started about my post section 'care' when DD was born...

I feel for your Gran. Hospitals are awful and this is one of the reasons I would like to train as a massage therapist, to work in hospitals doing clinical massage. I can't train as a nurse as it has to be 3 year full time training, and I am the bread winner for my lot. And, frankly, even nurses administer loads of pills they don't know much about.

I read an article about a chap in Royal Free in Hampsted who was a volunteer for 20 years, massaging terminally ill, cancer patients, etc. It impressed me so much, that I am seriously considering giving up the world of accountancy to become a clinical masseus (spelling?)

Sorry for a rant. I am still a bit 'high' after the course.

I am in, thanks ladies. How much 'room' specific I do is yet to be seen but I'll be working my socks off to get this place pulled straighter.

My MACAW to stop using areas in the house as 'dumping areas' this is a BIG one at the minute. Instead of finding a home it's 'dumped' somewhere...usually out of sight. If I stop me doing this, plus more importantly other people, I'll have less to clean up/sort out. DP dumps EVERYTHING he can't be bothered to put away in the kitchen as he says 'that is your room and I'm not cleaning/clearing in there' well no more.

Thanks for asking about my Dad, thoughts & prayers appreciated, no real change medically they are on about surgery for gall bladder, being diabetic/angina sufferer the dehydration/sugars is more of a concern than his gall bladder but the infection is causing more problems with all of his health issues. His fiancee said he looks better tonight which is good. He's a stubborn old mule who said it was kids giving him tummy bugs and refused to see the GP until he could barely breathe. I'm trying to think a little more 'positive' about hospitals, I know many here are sharing bad experiences but I just want to keep in my head that it's hopefully a good one he is in. Going to phone hospital tomorrow, get a more 'true' picture hopefully.

Poor little Matthew has had another bump today, other side of head now glued (but they are checking him with plastics team who did the other side just incase)...he's now ringing alarm bells more with his 'issues'. His Mam is asking for paed referral, hospital said possibly ears but there is nothing wrong with his hearing. He's just not talking (now 2 years 3 months) , obsessive with routines & doesn't seem to know where his body 'is' so I'm doing some print outs for his Mam (inc on proprioception & how to improve it) & going to ask people I know what they think good next steps are. His cousin has been diagnosed with Autism. Patterns are developing but health visitor seems to be a bit of a fanny, might be nothing but would prefer them to get help now. I'm going to have to give his Mum a few gentle 'kicks up the bum' with this, I know because I just have as she is hanging on and on about referal to SALT but I pointed out the waiting list will take when he's seen until after he starts nursery! This has scared her a little bit, like she said she was thinking she had ages.

So guess what, don't come too close to me as I am sure I am cursed :rotfl:

helen jelly my boys do cursive writing at home, instead of teaching them 'stop start' letters http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cursive+writing+worksheets&aq=0&aql=&aqi=g10&oq=cursive+writing loads of printables out there. I'd guess if it's an area he struggles with more @ home will be the best bet. Little and often should crack it with the resistance to do any at home, even 10 minutes a night will help (with a suitable incentive)
ajmoney poor family, thinking of them all and hoping the transplant is sooner rather than later x
kazm (((hugs))) for you and a KICK UP THE BUM for DD!
hex2 best of luck to your DH
Valli I am pleased you enjoyed your meal

Spoken a little to DP tonight, we used 'child goes free' vouchers I was given for cinema so DS2 got to see the movie for his birthday which is Wednesday but DP will be working (Alvin and the Chipmunks...) but of course he's shattered after 2 hours sleep, we're going to try to work out over the next week where we can improve the 'balance' money and life. He said he has a few thoughts on it but would rather discuss when not tired :rotfl: after 12 years we're learning when are good/bad times to talk.

Ok housework, sorry I keep offloading but there is a little 'weight' on these shoulders at present and I am hoping I am right that you don't mind as not many will even read this far :o

Monday's must do......from my plan 9.30am-1.30pm is my 'get it done' time

    Pre 9.30am school prep stuff
Dailies inc at least 1 WM load and DW load
Check what needs to go in the freezer.....I know some going out of 'date' tomorrow
Order stickers/clothing for one of DPs clubs - need prices on more stuff too
1.45pm pick up another parent to go look at a possible base
Clear out downstairs toilet! This thing will get done/finished as I am sick of it now...and waiting to use the loo
    Have a go at pigpen's wicked list.....hmmm.....
DP to have a look at TD....bearing goosed somewhere see if it's fixable
    Clean out lizards
Clean up the dog poop from garden
If DP is not working AGM/meeting at 7pm....if not then just drive there to drop a cheque off

My other important call - Phone evil cow swimming teacher who tried to upset DS1 and is now trying with DS2!!! She obviously hasn't realised who his brother is but will tomorrow. Cow bag. I'm resisting calling the LEA official person who deals with the DDA stuff first, trying to be 'nice' first.

This will shock you all the most, I will be in bed by 10.30pm tonight as the boys are ASLEEP....inc DP....
One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • Hi all!

Me me me! I'm in !

Thank you to the lovely ladies for all your hard work and the delish stars! I was so surprised at how motivated you all made me! Although I don't get to post I was mostly checking every morning on my phone at around 4am after I fed the baby I couldn't wait to see what the day held! Long may it continue. I can see my house beginning to come up to MIL standards!

    Thank you all again!

I managed to sneak on after all - my reward for doing well today (did everything I set out to do this afternoon). I'm in again in a fashion (work and personal lists will have to come first until half-term). Thanks to pigpen, toots and soappie for all your hard work.

I've decided to go to work at 7am rather than 8am for the next three weeks, so I can declutter my classroom and storeroom and catch up on work. After the next holidays DS2 will be at his new school. No more collection by taxi, so I'll have to deliver him to the breakfast club and I won't be able to have any early starts, apart from Thursdays, maybe (DH's day off).

    Here goes my list:
    Monday ~ Kiddies rooms/Spare rooms/Additional reception rooms
    Level One

    Declutter and vacuum floors!
    Strip and wash bedding -
    did that on Sunday
    Level Two
    Binbag dance
Clear out a whole cupboard.. clothes, toys or just junk.. whichever needs it most!
    Wash 2 windows
    Level Three
Clean paintwork.. don't forget tops of frames and doors!
Find 5 things to ebay/charity shop and list/take them straight away!
    Empty and wash out bins
    Extras
    1. Catch up on important phone calls/chase appointments
    2. Empty and clean out your handbag/coat pockets.. wherever you stuff your purse and receipts!
    3. HHI
    MACAW:
    Drink enough water

    5-a-week challenge:
find instructions for gas fire so I can make an appointment for engineer to come back
get e-mail for the guy who caused the accident and send him the quote
advertise stuff on freegle/local free ads when my laptop finally starts to talk to the wireless router
    finish DH's tax return
    sort new TD

Thanks for all the advice re the TD. I've decided to go for a compromise and will get a full size one for the top of the cellar stairs, but the freezer will have to stay where it is. It would just get too crowded on there and whilst I'd be able to keep the higher shelves, I wouldn't be able to reach them. So tumble dryer and some new shelving it is. I'll hopefully get the new TD in the next few days and keep it in front of the back door in the kitchen until a friend can sort out a plug socket in the holidays.

Hope you all have a good week.

This is going to be a hard one - see notes below:

If I do all these rooms at once, I will still be going in a month's time, so just the guest room for me. Dont have kid's rooms - well none that I dare go in for fear of being shot at dawn anyway. And he would resent being called a kid, seeing as he is 23 years old :D. Additional reception rooms, i will leave till we get round to dining room and study again.

    Monday ~ Kiddies rooms/Spare rooms/Additional reception rooms
    Level One
Declutter and vacuum floors! I am decorating a room upstairs and all my sewing stuff is on the floor of the spare room
Strip and wash bedding/throws/curtains I can only get at one of the two beds in the guest room, so will do that one.
    Level Two
    Binbag dance
Clear out a whole cupboard.. clothes, toys or just junk.. whichever needs it most! Cant get at the cupbaord due to sewing stuff; so will do a cupboard in another room
    Wash 2 windows
    Level Three
Clean paintwork.. don't forget tops of frames and doors!
Find 5 things to ebay/charity shop and list/take them straight away!
    Empty and wash out bins

    Extras
    1. Clean out any pets/poo trays etc Dont have any
    2. Catch up on important phone calls/chase appointments have to send about 7 emails and sort out invoices for last week
    3. Empty and clean out your handbag/coat pockets.. wherever you stuff your purse and receipts! yup - hope to find some loose change there too to add to sealed pot challenge :D
    4. HHI Definitely needs doing! have a pile as high as the ceiling!
    5. Call PC world as shredder has packed up and is less than a year old
    6. Plan vegetable garden
    7. Get out and start putting plans into action in garden

That's for putting me in again this week.

Last week I did it again, started with gusto on Monday morning and pittered out by the end of the week :( I'm blaming all the washing I had to catch up on from my eldest two coming home from weekend Scout camp, had to wash clothes 2 or 3 times to get the mud out!

Only thing is, I've just seen Monday's list so I might start on Tuesday as my girls' bedroom will take a week to get to level one :rotfl::rotfl:

Also got a wardrobe to build this week, so will see how things go. But thanks again for doing this cos at least it encourages me more to do my most hated thing... housework. And yet again, like the first week I joined, my kitchen still looks lovely :)
