helpful tool and also advice needed???

Afternoon all,

just starting to seel on Ebay and Fee's are such a confusion at times.

I have knocked up a simple, very, excel calculator that works out paypal, premier account, and Ebay fe's and wondered if its something other people already have/ want/ post it on here ( if possible) or whatever.

Also,

when I sold my first item through paypal the person paid with a Credit card and I was forced to upgrade to the premier account to get this payment. This account charges 3.4% for all fees while the normal account charges nothing but you cant receive CC payments..

What do people do? What type of paypal account do you have? How do I change back?

Cant people with a CC set up a free paypal account, deposit money from the CC and then pay me from the account?

Thanks for any help especially if i means saving 3.4% as Im selling at item thats over 1k soon.

Adamski.

You can downgrade to a standard 'personal' paypal account but only once.

However, if you are seriously selling on ebay, as it seems you are, then you need to stick to the upgraded paypal account and accept all payments however funded. If you limit the buyers to only use their paypal balances for payment you cannot tick 'accept paypal' as an option as you don't! Paypal don't discriminate between debit and credit cards either so even if someone tried to pay you using a debit card (ie bank balance) via paypal this would trigger the request to upgrade again.

I have a full paypal account. Like you I originally started with the basic personal one but my very first buyer paid using a card so I upgraded straight away.

    Thanks for the advice.

Worked out the fees on an item about 1100 and its about 60/ 70 quid overall with Ebay and Paypal.

I was a little naive at first and thought the only fee's you EVER paid were the listing ones.

    Such a newbie.
