In my experience asda tend to roll prices forwards before rolling them back- always check your reciept there.

Hi 'LEEDASH' what product is it? could it be to do with VAT going back to 17.5%.

    Items that carry VAT are;

    Beers, wines and spirits
    Fruit juices
    Bottled water
    General merchandise
    Carbonated drinks – e.g. coke/lemonade
    Greeting cards
    CDs and DVDs
    Pet food
    Cigarettes
    Petrol
Clothing (adult and children above age 14 and one size fits all)
Potato crisps (but not e.g. twiglets, tortilla chips which are zero rated)
    Confectionery
    Stationery
    Cut flowers and plants
    Toiletries
    Electrical household goods

It could also be due to supplier costs, which bump up what the supermarket pay, meaning they have to increase the price too.

How do you think they 'fund' their rollbacks...by increasing the price of other products, of course.
