Friend's of ours cat still went home 5 years after they moved. This was not far as the crow flies probably 2-3 miles but the moved in to the Glen from the town and the cat had to go over the hill.

Well done on getting her back!

when I was young (in olden days, to quote my 5year old DGS :rotfl:) people used to put butter on their cat's paws when they moved to a new home. The theory was that cats are so particular about grooming by the time they licked all the butter off they were used to their new house. Don't know if it worked though!

I never really understood the butter on paws theory...but I read on another site that the licking stimulates the scent glands on the cat's feet so that they leave a nice clear trail of their own scent to follow back to the new home. Clever huh?

Funny isn't it, the old wives tales we hear! She certainly did go on a mini break! Maybe she met a male cat? Or got stunned by the neighbours' electric fence they use to keep deer out?! Who knows....she is happily asleep under our bed now where she can stay until her next adventure!!
