I agree with a lot of your well put points Hamish but i don't agree that population growth in our beloved Scotland is a problem...

Aye, and thank goodness for that. Fortunately, we have the English taxpayer to pay our pensions for us. Although given that they stole our oil for the last few decades, and are insufferable bar stewards at the best of times, it's probably a fair trade off.

It's also no coincidence that prices have risen more slowly here than anywhere else. But as household density has decreased more than population, prices have risen anyway.

Interestingly enough, your other policy ( build loads of houses) was tried as part of the chinese stimulus spending .

One would assume we'd be smart enough not to build a city in the middle of nowhere.

As an english taxpayer, I've got to say... you do realise that when the oil runs out, we're going to give you independance?

So I guess you could have cheaper houses, if you were willing to ban immigration, euthanise the old, sterilise the young, and pay twice the taxes you do now.
They seem to have deleted the "full of !!!!!!" smiley which has rather stymied my answer.
  • There are only around 300,000 second/holiday homes.

Around a 3 month supply. Nowhere near enough to make a difference over the next 10 years, when we need to house 4 million more people.

    Every little helps ;)

    Milton Keynes.

And yet it's full of people.

    WHat does that tell you?

What about just banning chavs form breeding? Come on, we all know they don't positively contribute to society and their offspring aren't likely to either...

Think that mey be a bit OTT. But at the moment we pay them loads to breed, which seems even more rediculous.

It tells me it's time for a picture of someone wearing a Bacofoil hat?
