I would like to hire a car for a week-end (maybe saturday only) next month. If someone knows the cheapest way to do so, let me know.

Thanks

    Hello zweety

    Welcome to the MSE site.

I'll move your thread over to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, where it should get more views and responses.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

It may work out cheaper to hire for 3 days, and just return it early.
I have done that a couple of times, as the companies charge more for daily rates tham for a 3 or 7 day special.

Just a small point - why don't people who are asking for cheap car rental EVER say which town/city they are wishing to hire from? By not telling us, all you are going to get is a few suggestions for the usual nationwide companies (Hertz, Enterprise, etc etc...). In my experience, small independent rental companies offer very competitive rates (usually cheaper than the aforementioned).
Please don't take this as a personal dig Zweety, it's not. It's just something I've noticed over a period of time

Oops, Your right Zacspeed. Ok, I want to hire it from London. Well the closest to Harrow-on-the-hill would be the best.

Do you know someone with a car you can borrow? if you do you can insurance yourself for up to 28 days with a company called dayinsure. (https://www.dayinsure.com).

I had a look for some quotes and it looks to cost £10/day for one or two days, then drops to about £5/day when you book for 14 or more days - provided the car costs less than £4,000.

Haven't used them so don't know how good they are.

Sorry that last bit was supposed to say £40,000, not £4,000
