Normally all recharges are quoted at about half new prices. Results are technique dependant. If done correctly they work fine up to a point. Sooner or later the print head will become unusable and new ones will need to be purchased.

In future look at brother or epson or even canon colour printing. these all have cheaper cartridges available which can be bought for as little as a £1 each

My friend bought a Lexmark and then discovered that it was not possible to buy
compatibles. I got the impression that Lexmark had made sure they were not available. A few months ago she saw a Lexmark at half price in Morissons and she actually bought it. Last time she bought ink it cost a fortune. What a clown!
My first printer was an Epsom and lasted ages and current one is a HP. Cheap
    ink is available for both.
  • Lexmark (generally) loss-lead on the printers and then make back that cash in the consumables.

I remember at the retailer I worked in to pay my tuition fees; we had a basic printer on offer at £29.99. A few weeks later when people came back for another set of inks, at a cost of £32+, they were walking out with another printer.

That's interesting. I did get the impression though that it was not possibleto buy compatibles for Lexmark. Somehow, they had prevented their inks being copied.
I did not understand how this could be possible. My friend's second machine is much sturdier altogether. Her first one was flimsy. But I was astonished that she bought the same make again! I am interested in a good wireless printer - any ideas?

NB My two grandsons are having their tuition fees paid for. One by me and for the oldest one his intended employer is paying them. Don't think they realise how lucky they are!
