PPI Claim Help for Newbie....

Hi, approx 6 years ago I took out PPI with a new credit card that I opened with RBS. About 2 or 3 years ago bills stopped coming from RBS and I was switched Barclaycard, got a new card and bills came from them. I didn't really think anything of it but when I was made redundant last year and tried to claim I was told I didn't hold any insurance with them (even though I am paying nearly £40 a month) Luckily I did get a new job shortly afterwards and, probably stupidy, never took up why they said I had no PPI with them. I owe quite alot on my Barclaycard, pretty much up to the limit. Can I claim for PPI refund in these circumstances? (I don't have any other means to transfer the debt onto) Many thanks for any advice that is offered...

    Hi there

    I think a Subject access Request (SAR) would be useful in this case, where they will send everything they hold on you by 40 days, so anything in relation to PPI (payment protection insurance) should be shown in the details.
    There is a charge of £10 for this payable by postal order or cheque payment, I would post by recorded delivery as well for your proof of posting.

    Another way is, if this account is still active, write to them include your account number on the letter to request for your Credit Agreement, this should show if PPI was taken on not, you will have to enclose £1 postal order or cheque payment for this request and tell them you expect to receive this by 12 days.

    As you confirm you did have PPI, and you could not make a successful claim then I would definately write to complain and reclaim if this is the case.
    There is a link below with templates, guidelines of reclaiming and so on, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, and again post by recorded delivery, keep at them.
