Sony Digital Camera problem Charging

Another problem whilst I am posting. I have a Sony Digital Camera model VPC-T700 and the problem I have is that as soon as I pull the charger out the battery fails instantly. The camera will work when it is plugged in but that means I cannot use the camera outside unless I have a 3 mile extension lead 
. I have purchased a new battery as I thought it could be that but it is completely the same with the new one. Any help would be grateful. Thankyou in advance
