Pandora bracelet broken after 10 months

My OH received a Pandora bracelet as a birthday present, £165 was paid including the initial charms. It doesn't even get worn everyday.
Yesterday when she took it off, the clasp broke. It's hard to describe the fault, there is a small piece of metal on each end of the clasp which holds the clasp onto the bracelet, one of these pieces broke off, they're probably only two or three mm in size. So now the clasp falls off the bracelet when opened and when closed it is loose and unsupported.
I've tried phoning the local Pandora shop today but no one picked up. The Sales of Goods Act says goods must last a reasonable length of time. Surely ten months is not a reasonable length of time for a bracelet like that, what do you think?
We don't have the receipt but we may be able to obtain proof of purchase in the form a bank statement.

The shop would probably be closed as its Sunday, i would just give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say, its probably just a simple welding job.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
one of these pieces broke off,
Broke off, or it was broken off when trying to open the Pandora??
My OH has one and opening it is difficult as the clasps are very tight.
I suspect it didnt just "break off" on its own.0 -
I've spoken to a Pandora branch and the lady said something similar happend to hers. She said it should be able to be repaired but will need the receipt or proof of purchase. This is annoying because we now have to ask the person that gave it as a present to give us a bank statement. Who wants to be giving bank statements out because of a gift they gave someone has a fault!?0

I know it's annoying that it broke after 10 months, but surely you have to understand that they need some kind of proof of purchase?!?0 -
Good news, we've managed to get hold of the receipt. Will take it to the shop at the weekend hopefully.0

My brand new gold Pandora bracket just broken as I was putting it on today and it's only FOUR days old!!
The "clasp end" came out out the socket whilst I was putting it on. I've owned a silver and gold one for 18 months with no problems but I am seriously ticked off that this happened to my gold one especially as all of my expensive gold charms were scattered everywhere.. I'm just grateful that this happened at home and not when I was out and about as I would have lost a LOT of money from the charms going missing if it had been on the street.
Be careful and be warned, it CAN happen!0 -
My Pandora bracelet which I have had for six weeks has broken (the bracelet has come away from the clasp). It fell off me (luckily indoors). I took it back to the Thurrock Lakeside branch to be told that it had to be sent to Pandora HQ which will take 8 weeks so that they can decide if I can have it replaced. I took it back with a receipt. Surely this is not good enough? I could have bought a cheap top in Primark and found a fault with it and got a replacement so why not a bracelet?0

You're only technically entitled to a repair/replacement/refund if its inherently faulty. If it fell off because you damaged it (for example), then they dont have to do anything. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
As above, they have the right to inspect it for misuse, 8 weeks seems a long time though, must be a busy place.0
