Steam is supposedly good. Try boiling some water into a bowl, add some vicks and maybe that will help.

  • Slice of unwaxed lemon, with scalding water poured over it. Drink like Lemsip.

can't beat a hot toddy - tho should only be taken before bed!
1 teaspoon honey or 1 teaspoon of sugar
1 slice fresh lemon or 2 tablespoons of lemon squash
Mug/cup of boiled water and add the whisky :p I also put paracetamol in mine.

Fresh root ginger chopped into small pieces (or powdered ginger if you don't have fresh) put in a flask with slices of lemon and top up with hot, not boiling, water. Take the flask back to bed and take paracetomol at regular intervals.

If you are hungry ask for lots of onions in anything prepared for you as they are great for colds.

Note very old-style, but if you can get to a gym try sitting in the steam room for as long as you can cope with, it will sweat the bugs out of you and works surprisingly quickly.

  • Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board).
