Cleaning Washing Machine detergent drawers

Hi all,
Has anyone got any good tips for cleaning out the detergent drawers (and the where the drawer fits) on washing machines?
For the life of me l cannot understand why they have little tubes for the fabric softener to travel in they get clogged up and are difficult to unblock.
I currently just spray everything with cillit bang 'grime & lime' leave and then scrub off and use cocktail sticks, toothbrushes and small paintbrushes to reach difficult areas, but if anyone has a quicker solution l'd be eternally grateful.

Do you remove the drawer when you're washing it?0

I remove mine and put it in the dish washer comes out sparkling clean.
However this gets done every week and we use liquids rather than powder in our washing machine.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
We don't use the soap dispenser. We put the powder in a little plastic ball inside the drum. This significantly reduces problems with the dispenser getting manky.0

I also do as Stclair and pop mine in the dishwasher, comes up a treat.0

I also put mine in the dishwasher or you could put in a sink of hot soapy water and clean with an old toothbrush, cotton buds are good for cleaning the tubes/holes of the detergent compartments. Do it regularly to avoid build-up.0

I put mine in the bath and give it a blast with the shower hose.0

I soak it in the sink; running an empty load every so often helps keep the drawer clean.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

cheers all, think l'll try putting it in the dishwasher, maybe l left it too long this time but l get fed up with the job.
Yes l always remove it when l'm washing it! and l always leave the drawer open between washes to stop the air in there staying damp too. I'd happily clean all day but this is one job that annoys me!
