Making a claim,- Does this mean out of pocket?

Hi,
I'm still battling with a recent dispute with a mail order company. If I were to make a claim with the small claims court, would i be liable for the defendants costs? (Loss of earning for the appearence, travel, meals etc?)
The product i'm trying to and failing to get a refund for was £169,- I don't want to end up with a court bill of £300
Any help would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Michelle.

Hi Michelle, I'm no great expert but I believe that if the case is found in your favour you can ask for the filing fee and other costs to be added to your win. If the case is found in their favour they can also ask for you to pay their costs. I'm sure some-one with a bit more know would be able to advise you or simply phone your local small claims court. I think you can also get their leaflets online which answer a variety of questions. Hope this helps.0
