Repair to what exactly?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

If you're a residential customer, and there's something wrong with your line, they fix it free of charge providing you haven't tampered with it or neglected it in some way or mistreated the line/socket in some way beyond normal wear and tear.
If you're a business, you have the option of two priority levels of care over and above the Standard Care service from a couple of pounds a month per line and that gets you pretty much 24/7/365 service cover.
To my knowledge they only charge if you're not in when the engineer calls, or if it turns out that the fault was with your equipment because you hadn't checked before reporting the 'fault' (i.e. you should unplug everything from ALL phone sockets in the property - including your Sky box, diallers, modems and trying the line with a non-cordless phone etc before assuming it's the line itself - a worryingly high proportion of fault enquiries turn out to be as a result of customers' faulty equipment).
What are you hoping to achieve from this poll?Fasthosts ruined my life0 -

The payment of line rental is for BT to provide a working telephone line. Thus, if it goes faulty, it should be fixed at no extra cost.0 -
It would be better if the poll was on connection charges. Is that what was meant?0
