Pot hole damage received claim form...

Hi all

Hit a pothole before Christmas and now just received claim form from council.
On the form its asking for my insurer's name, address and my policy number. I have not informed my insurer that this happened due to not worth claiming on my own insurance due to high excess.

I am in 2 minds weather to give this info to council or not, as concerned they will contact my insurers. Nothing to hide just that I have not informed insurer of pot hole damage.

Any advice please?
TB

You aren't forced to answer the question!

(Though it might be a breach of your insurance policy conditions if you don't inform the insurer of incidents like this)

The cost of the repairs for the damage done (which the council will presumably be paying) won't be anything like the increase (if any) to your future premiums.

I doubt you will have any success against the council, what evidence do you have that they neglected their duties?

Photos of said pothole that has been poorly repaired in past, with repair that has broke up.

Hmmm, but it's not proof of a neglect of duty is it, all you have is proof that it was previously repaired, and some time later the tarmac has sunk again? Or the repair broke up in the icy weather. Neither of which are going to be a reason for the council to pay out on your claim.
  • True, See where you coming from, incident happened before the bad weather (snow) just council playing delaying tactics!!

How did the pothole damage your claim form?????

Can you not just ask the council for another one?
