I very much doubt you will get anything decent from VW for £1000, especially a diesel and passat size, if you do it will be like those p!ss stained wrecks the Top Gear boys buy for challenges :rotfl:

No I know I wont get a VW, and really the only one I would get is a Golf and they are way out of my price range unless they are really old!

Think mt first choice is a focus then I'll have a look at some of the others listed too.

Disagree with that. One of my friends swears by cheap passats - so much so he's on his second. First one bought about 5 years ago *think* it was a 2.0 petrol and silver - about a year ago he chopped that in for a Green TD and he loves it. The costs? £800 for the first one, £550 for the second. :cool:

helped a mate buy a t reg 1.9tdi well specced mot`s taxed passat for £600. its been a good car, no problems with it yet.
